Bringing the Best of Israeli Cybersecurity into the U.S. Comercial and Government Markets

Who Needs to Worry About Cybersecurity?

The short answer is everyone, but most organizations are most worried about their customer data.   Deeper Solutions work with organizations that are subject to regulation (e.g. Government Contractors, Electric Utilities, CSPs, & Health Care ), those that maintain extremely sensitive data but may not have regulation specifically focused on their industries  (e.g. Law Firms, Accounting Firms & Dating Sites) and all those who maintain any customer data (e.g. Membership Organizations & Retail).

Examples of Highly Regulated Industries

Healthcare

Government contractors provide a large variety of products and services to federal, state and local agencies.   These contractors have access to a variety of sensitive data including PII, financial data, technical data and security related data.

Regulations and requirements regarding government contractor’s cybersecurity requirements are growing.  For example, government contractors working with the DOD must comply with NIST 800-171 (Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations) starting December 2017. In short, this regulation requires that all government contractors doing business with DOD must meet certain requirements to protect and maintain the confidentiality of Controlled Unclassified Data.

Electric Utilities

Electric Utilities are targets of both Hacktivist and State Actors.    Being able to manipulate the unfettered access to electricity could create significant societal upheaval.  Therefore, electric utilities are considered critical infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure has been defined by Executive Order as “systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.”

Communication Service Providers (CSP)

Finance is, arguably, the most regulated industry in the world. Every financial institution is regulated by multiple organizations. There is so much organizational terminology used for cybersecurity that rules and regulation vary significantly just among U.S. Federal regulatory organizations.

One regulation that requires a significant effort from Financial Institutions is the New York State DFS cybersecurity regulations which are the most stringent (civilian) rules in existence. This regulation went into effect in March 2017.
The new rules and requirements grow dramatically over a two year period.
